As this turbulent season has progressed, there has been a lot of talk about the new power trio of golf: Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day.
Spieth won the first two major championships of the year, and Day has won three of his last five starts. McIlroy, who took a month out due to injury in the middle of the season, has failed to deliver what many thought he would.
Combined, the three of them have won five of the last six major championships. And they have each been No. 1 in the world at some point this season.
How does Day see himself fitting among the trio?
“Oh I would like to say I’m a mix of all three,” Day said Wednesday during the Coca Cola TOUR Championship. “If we had to put it in words these days it’s like Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy had a baby and I was it.”
That sure was a funny way to put it, and the room burst out into laughter.
