This year was a truly spectacular season for Jordan Spieth. He was sinking putts from all over the green at East Lake this weekend, and finished the TOUR Championship with a 1-under 69 on Sunday. That score was more than enough to guarantee him being the youngest ever player to win the FedExCup, and the sizeable $10 million bonus.
At just 22 years of age, Jordan Spieth became the first golfer to win $22 million in a single year. His win at the TOUR Championship brought his season’s earnings to $12,030,465, and that’s before adding his $10 million FedExCup bonus.
If all of this winning and record-breaking earnings was not enough, he also moved back to his rightful spot at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings.
Henrik Stenson had the lead in the early parts of the tournament. It wasn’t long, however, until Spieth’s consistency and composure came into effect. His putting was unbeatable throughout the final day, including this long one on the 11th hole on Sunday. Stenson was lost for words.
“This is one I cannot wait to celebrate,” Spieth said.
