Bubba Watson may have remained out of the spotlight for the majority of this season, but his win at the Hero World Challenge was hardly a surprise. He bested Patrick Reed by three strokes for a clear victory.
What’s less surprising, however, is how close Bubba is to hanging up his golf shoes.
In a press conference following the Hero World Challenge, Watson was questioned about a previous comment he had made about retiring once he’s racked up 10 professional wins. Sunday’s victory was No. 9, and Watson clarified his position:
“Ten U.S. victories… I don’t count this as a PGA Tour victory. It counts as a victory. It’s very big for my career personally, but I don’t see it as 10.”
Watson certainly has adequate time to achieve his goal.
