The world’s three highest-ranked players, Day, Spieth and McIlroy, are all competing in the Memorial Tournament. All three players won their most recent matches, McIlroy’s being in the European Tour.
Spieth and McIlroy both played early. Spieth shot two under par, with McIlroy trailing one behind at one under par.
On the other hand, Day continued in the form he’d been familiar with during the PLAYERS Championship. He stepped things up on the back nine with three birdies and this eagles on the 15th, leaving him dangerously close to Johnson at six under par.
