McIlroy and Woods commit to first event of the season

Woods’ finished in 178th position in the FedExCup rankings. The last time he competed was at the Wyndham Championship, when he finished in 10th place. That was his first top-10 in almost two years.

McIlroy has recently returned to the top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings, in what was the fourth consecutive week that he swapped places with Jordan Spieth. The average point margin between them is just 0.023, the lowest between the top two since official rankings begun back in 1986.
