In the run up to the 2016 PLAYERS Championship, Rickie Fowler spent some time on the infamous 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass to try out some tricks shots.
The 27-year-old won the PLAYERS in the 2015 event in a thrilling playoff, in which he beat Sergio Garcia and Kevin Kisner in the first three-hole playoff in PLAYERS history.
Fowler had the Island-Green No. 17 under control the hole week. He birdied the hole three times on Sunday, and five times out of six trips there throughout the week. If there was one hole he wanted to play in the sudden death stage, it was No. 17.
During his media day at the PLAYERS Championship, Rickie Fowler made his first return to the Island Green since 2015. I’m not sure how much hitting it blindfolded, left-handed and from the hospitality tent would help his game, but it’s only going to add to his familiarity with the course.
